The HSEQ department (Health & Safety, Environment and Quality) was set up in 2008 in order to accommodate the ever-increasing demands made, especially by foreign companies, with regard to meeting the requirements for occupational safety, environmental protection, and the provision of services at the highest standard. In cooperation with the leading companies in the oil industry, higher standards have been adopted and subsequently applied within MND Drilling & Services, ensuring continual improvement in our activities.

Quality Management System

Quality issues (and thus all of the company's acti­vities) are regulated in accordance with ISO 9001. Having first obtained certification in 2001, we have been awarded certification every year since then by TÜV-SÜD, the certification body. The main building blocks constituting quality management are:

• all maintenance work and services are performed to the quality standards and within deadlines requested by our clients,
• the company's orga­nizational structure is clearly defined and each employee holds a specific position within the working hierarchy, and is fully aware of his/her duties and authority,
• all processes within the company likely to affect the quality of the services provided are documented, clearly defining the respective working procedures,
• all work is performed only by qualified personnel who possess the required experience,
• each satisfied customer does credit to the reputation of the company, making it subsequently more attractive to potential clients; awareness of this fact forms the basis of every job and serves as a springboard for the planning and implementation of further activities,
• the feedback provided by our clients encourages us to adopt new measures to improve the quality and efficiency of the system.

Environmental Protection Management System

The system of environmental protection is regulated in accordance with ISO 14001. First obtained in 2003 from TÜV-SÜD, this certificate only provided confirmation of the principles we had already been upholding with regard to environmental protection. The fact that we have set off in the right direction is evidenced not only by our achievements in new localities throughout Europe, but also by the ever-increasing volume of operations in the area of environmental damage rehabilitation. The features of the system of environmental protection management adopted in MND Drilling & Services include:

• strictly adhering to all legal requirements of the Czech Republic and any other country we operate in,
• taking subcontractor attitudes towards environmental protection into consideration during the evaluation and selection process,
• investing in eco-friendly projects,
• putting emphasis on the prevention of environmental damage (responsible waste management, conscientious handling of chemical and petroleum products),
• implementing a set of effective measures minimizing the damage caused by a spill of hazardous substances,
• invariably applying procedures and methods which will result in the least or no impact on the environment.

Certificate ISO 14001

Occupational Health and Safety Management System

We satisfied the trio of standards in 2009 when the company obtained the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate – OHSAS 18001. The issue of occupational safety within the oil industry has recently been growing in importance, to the point where it is now essentially on par with overall economic profits as a priority. A good company's name is underpinned by a positive approach to the issue of environmental protection and by adhering to and continually applying the principles of occupational safety. For this and other reasons, the company's mana­gement has decided to place a great emphasis on occupational safety. The company's general principles are as follows:

• occupational safety and health and environmental protection are just as important as all other business activities and, as such, form an integral part of the management's res­ponsibilities,
• each individual is responsible for his/her safety and the safety of his/her co-workers,
• the causes of every accident, injury or near miss are closely investigated and preventive measures taken,
• proactive approach to safety issues at all levels of management,
• the obligation to adhere to safety principles is required of everyone regardless of their status within the company.

Certificate OHSAS 18001

API

The American Petroleum Institute (API) standards have, for a long time, been welcomed and applied within the engineering sector of the petrochemical industry. The necessity to proceed in accordance with these standards is subject to the client's requ­irements. MND Drilling & Services is the holder of two certificates entitling it to use the API Monogram:

API 6A-0711 (wellhead, X-mas tree)

API 6D-0532 (pipeline valves)

The application of the API Monogram for selected products in the sector of engineering production requires a quality control system consistent with the API Spec.Q1 standard. An audit is carried out once every three years by API auditors.

IADC

The company is a member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC).
